Quick Tips

  • Ripstop grid means cuts and tears don't propagate. Work with it by cutting on-grid where possible
  • Pre-shrink before cutting if using for fitted garments
  • Nylon content can fray at cut edges. Heat-seal or serge promptly
  • Bar tack at all attachment points. The nylon component is strong but the weave opens under point stress

Detail

Nyco (nylon-cotton blend) ripstop combines nylon's durability with cotton's breathability. It's the classic military and workwear fabric for BDUs, field shirts, and cargo pants. The grid resists tearing, but the open weave demands well-finished seams. The cotton content takes medium heat with steam, unlike pure nylon. Flat-felled seams add durability and look clean on both sides. The 4452 handles it at standard settings.
