Quick Tips

  • Clips preferred over pins. Pin holes are visible on coated versions
  • Feed slowly at seam starts to prevent fabric being pulled into the machine
  • Heat-seal cut edges with a lighter on raw cuts to prevent fraying
  • Seam tape on the inside adds weather resistance to finished seams

Detail

70D nylon is mid-weight synthetic, heavier than 7D but still slippery on the machine. It's a MYOG workhorse for stuff sacks, dry bags, wind shells, and pack fabric. Coated versions (PU or silicone) need a Teflon foot; uncoated is more forgiving. Tape or seam-seal weather-exposed seams. The fabric takes bar tacks well and holds hardware like cord locks and buckles cleanly.
