Quick Tips

  • The grid texture can shift during sewing. Use plenty of clips
  • Sew with the grid side down against the feed dogs for better traction
  • Fleece doesn't fray so edges can be left raw. Great for fast finishing
  • A walking foot makes an immediate visible difference in stitch consistency

Detail

Grid fleece is a low-pile, open-grid midlayer that's lightweight and dries fast. It sews easier than high-pile fleece because the grid feeds consistently. The challenge is loft: the presser foot compresses and distorts the grid, hurting stitch quality. A walking foot spreads pressure and produces cleaner seams. Skip the seam finishing. Trim close and the edges stay put. For MYOG midlayers, simple zigzag construction is fast and durable.
