Quick Tips

  • Never use a straight stitch for seams that will stretch. Threads will pop
  • A lightning bolt stitch (if your machine has it) gives the best stretch-recovery
  • Avoid stretching the fabric while sewing. Let it feed naturally
  • Seam allowances can be topstitched flat to reduce bulk against skin

Detail

Power Stretch is a four-way stretch performance fabric, smooth on one face and fleece on the back. Used in base layers, midlayers, and active gear that needs unrestricted movement. A stretch needle is non-negotiable. Universal needles skip stitches on this fabric every time. Drop tension below standard so seams can stretch without breaking thread. Simulated flat-locked seams (wide zigzag, trimmed allowance) cut bulk noticeably and are worth the steps for next-to-skin wear. Test on scrap and stretch the seam hard before trusting it.
