Quick Tips

  • Polyester broadcloth is heat-sensitive. Use a low iron setting and press cloth
  • Tends to pucker along seams if tension is too high; test on scrap
  • Serge or zigzag edges as it frays steadily
  • Good base fabric for linings in workwear pockets and jacket interiors

Detail

Polyester broadcloth sews easily but punishes inattention to heat and tension. It's not a primary MYOG structural fabric, but it earns its place as lining, pocket bags, and interior finishes where smoothness matters. Puckering is the main challenge. Polyester thread in polyester fabric behaves unpredictably under tension. Test a seam on scrap and adjust tension down as needed. Press with low heat and a press cloth to avoid the shiny melted look that ruins polyester seams.
