Quick Tips
- Every needle hole is permanent. Plan seam lines carefully before sewing
- Use clips only; no pins
- Seam tape on the inside makes seams weather-resistant and hides needle holes
- The X grid is a visual guide. Align seams parallel to the grid for a clean look
Detail
X-Pac is a laminate of a face fabric, X-grid scrim, and a waterproof film backer. It's the go-to for MYOG packs, pouches, and bivy covers. The laminate doesn't fray, holds its shape, and resists water. But every needle hole punctures the waterproof layer; seam sealer or tape matters on waterproof builds. A Teflon foot is non-negotiable. The film backer grips a standard foot and causes uneven feeding and skipped stitches. VX21 is the most common weight for pack panels and pouches.
